When your project is complete transferring and saving your footage is the next critical step of the process. The fastest and most reliable method is to remove and save the content using a mSD adapter or card reader to your computer system. FASTEST METHOD Remove the card When you remove the card from the camera use the mSD adapter/card reader to transfer the footage to your computer system for the fastest content transfer. Content save time approx 3 minutes for 19 GB of files EDITING GET'S THE JOB DONE Use the USB cord Connect the cord to the camera USB power port and to your computer system. This will allow for data transfer only. Content save time approx 13 minutes for 19 GB of files EDITING SLOWEST METHOD Download to phone This method is only recommended for one clip. This is the slowest transfer method. Content save time approx. 3.5 minutes per 532mb file. DOWNLOAD Method 2: Use the cord When the camera is connected to the computer this is (slow) data transfer. It is not for recharging/controlling/programming the camera. The camera will be detected by your computer and you will be given the option to explore the cameras DCIM folder for the files you want to transfer. Select, or drag and drop, the files you want to transfer including the .LOG file. Please note, you will not be able to enter transfer mode if the camera is still recording. Either turn the camera off, or have the camera in standby (Green LED on) before you can access transfer mode. When you connect to a computer it will time out due to power saving programing users do not have control of. Download to phone Transfer Via WiFi app It works in a pinch when you have one great clip of content and you want to share it immediately. • Editing | Afidus

edit & share the final steps What’s next? What the camera will produce. We think about time-all the time. Once your project is complete you have two options: The fastest and most reliable method is to remove and save the content using a mSD adapter or card reader to your computer system. You can certainly download and share. Select the a short clip to share immediately using download to phone. Be sure to read our page with more information about how this process is. Save, via one of the methods mentioned above, Edit and Share. This is the best method for longer projects where the clips are strung together using Video Editing Software. SAVING DOWNLOAD Quick Tip on Saving Content: Time is money. We find it fastest to simply replace the card with a fresh brand new card. Rather than downloading to phone. CARDS CHECKLIST What the camera will produce The Afidus Time Lapse camera will output video files in .mp4 file format. All files will have a file size limited up to 537 MB in size. Why 537 MB .mp4 video files? Great question, this is the limit for Downloading to phone if you should decide to do this for your content saving method. If you have the Split file by date selected ON, (ATL-200S/201S model only) found within the settings, then your files will be split into days upto that file size. Note: There is an exception to this within the recording modes. PIR Infrared creative recording mode (ATL-200/200S models) will create many small files as the system is triggered by the motion sensor. Editing Software/Apps Essentially there are two mediums for editing. Quick on-the-fly through your mobile device or more extensively through your desktop computer. Mobile Apps compatible with .mp4 files. The following list has been tried, tested and used by the TLC Team: (ioS 14.2) iMovie, Img Play, Video Shop, Fimora Go, inShot, Quik, Premiere Rush. There are many video editing apps within the App Store. Check them out to see what will work for you. Do you have lots of Content from a long term project? We recommend using a desktop/laptop computer. You will need a computer suitable for the minimum editing requirements of the software. Typically this is 8gb of RAM Processor: Intel i5 and above. Storage: at least 256 GB hard drive, 7200 RPM, preferably SSD (fastest), HDD also good... buy as much as you can afford, you can always add external hard drives. Don't forget to back it up with a cloud service. Graphics card: Depends on video editing software. For example, Premiere Pro and Davinci Resolve do well with both AMD and NVIDIA. (Minimum 2GB memory) Operating System: Windows 7 (64 bit edition), Mac OS X, Linux (Your OS will likely determine the editing software you go with) Nice size screen:19-21 inch minimum, ipads work in a pinch. That's another whole article. To preview your content using an Apple Computer simply use Preview, Photos, Quick Time, or download VLC or Elmedia players To view the footage on a windows desktop system you may use Quick Time, Windows Media, or download VLC, Elmedia players. Be sure to read more about compression modes when viewing footage captured in Efficiency Compression Mode for the windows computer. This is best used in situations where the subject is lit from behind. This feature will even out the front and back exposure of the scene. Since the ATL-200S features true tonal HDR scope-if you are using a previous 200 or 201 model the HDR was always set to high. To give you the most responsive dynamic range. For the 200S model the HDR low which is the start of perfection. You can fine-tune this to your scene by adjusting to HDR low, medium and high. Select back light compensation from the Scene menu. Adjust to your satisfaction. ARTICLE digital image stabilization Toggle this ON to engage Digital Image Stabilization, DIS, is used when you need to smooth out your footage due to camera movement. Best used in constant capture at 24 or 30 FPS (frames per second). SPLIT FILES BY DATE This feature is tops in our book and highly requested by 200/201 users. Splitting files by a date means exactly that. All .mp4 files created by the camera will have a file size limited up to 537MB in size. When this feature is engaged, your footage will be separated up to that file size and by date. Meaning for a daily, month long project you will have split files for monday, tuesday etc according to the days that you set. Auto exposure Optimizer Automatic Exposure Optimizer would be used in situations where you would have a higher flicker and quick light changes such as sunrises or sunsets. In short, this feature overrides the 50/60 Hz selection and reduces exposure flicker especially in sunrise/sunset scenario. We recommend turning this ON for short sunset/sunrises time lapses LEARN MORE Rotate 0/90/180/270 We find this handy in a variety of situations. At times on job sites, we install our cameras upside down like bats. Rotating the view 180 from the menu will flip the video in the preview screen allowing you to view it normally, making it a little more convenient for you. For some users the 90 and 270 is an intriguing angle for capturing extremely tall structures. Compression The file size will vary with settings. Efficiency compression is a newer Codec using H.265. equal to 30% smaller files than capturing in Compatible compression mode. We leave this setting at Compatible. If you are an experienced editor and you you know your computer system can handle H.265 then change this to Efficiency. Dive deeper into our extensive article. LEARN MORE RECORDING APPOINTMENT A feature added in July 2021 with the latest firmware update to 4632 for only the ATL-200S/201S models. With this new addition you can set your camera to start recording on a specific date. This is handy in the field when you will set the cameras up on site on a Monday and the project wont start until Friday. We urge you to check this setting from the information screen to confirm it is accurate and you start the camera in the correct year. batch settings If you have a total of two time-lapse photography tasks this month, one during the week and the other during the weekend, you can choose Backup 1 as your week setting, and Backup 2 is your weekend shooting settings. Be sure to check the information screen to ensure you have selected the right programmed Batch for the job you want to record. go ahead ZOOM IN snoop around The freedom to zoom in is one of the "Pro" features of this camera. ARTICLE ON PIR SNAPSHOT (creative recording mode) All ATL-models SNAPSHOT / STOP MOTION This mode takes an image capture with the camera. To operate: You'll need the patience of a saint to make a stop frame animation movie. The app will collect all the capture and save them to one speedy fast .mp4 video file. If desired, you can further edit video into a final video project on your computer. This mode is also known as stop frame animation This is one of the most challenging creative modes to work with. There is a 1-3 second time delay from when the shutter button is pressed to when the camera records the photo and is saved to the cameras card. We advise setting the camera to 1 FPS. Snapshots are stored under the snapshot folder of the gallery. This video highlights the manual operation it of the camera showing what it takes to the generate the captured video before editing. ARTICLE ON SNAPSHOT Snapsot SCHEDULE TIME LAPSE All ATL-models TIME LAPSE / SCHEDULE MODE This is the standard time-lapse recording mode. Choose the interval settings you want to use and off you go. It will record according to the settings you specify within the menu flyout. For most projects remaining within the "Minute-to-Win-it" using a 1 minutes interval covers the action for a week up to one month long. Be sure to set the schedule from the settings menu, capturing during working hours Monday-Friday 8 am to 5pm. This reduces editing cutting out the nights. Set the FPS on the first screen to either 25 or 30 for fluid playback speed. ARTICLE ON TIMELAPSE Time Lapse VIDEO LAPSE (creative recording mode) All ATL-models VIDEO LAPSE (aka Step Video) Video lapse mode works by selecting the capture burst (3-10 seconds) from the main settings menu. Then on the first screen at (clock icon) you select your “spanning interval” which is the interval of time not captured in live motion. With playback at 100% speed the footage ticks a long with breaks. Adversely, if you speed it up then it will look like a traditional time lapse. The golden nugget is opportunities to capture details only seeing using constant capture burst. The perfect moment when something is in a frame. We joke around by saying, "this is the ultimate casino game to play" meaning; you will WIN every time it's just a matter of timing. VIDEO LAPSE ARTICLE Video Lapse HYBRID HYBRID (best of both worlds) Time Lapse + Motion Sensing Hybrid is a creative recording mode where you want a blend of content. The motion sensor will be triggered by a change in heat recording a short clip. Then, when the sensor is not triggered the camera will record a regular time lapse according to the interval you set. We find this recording mode works best in controlled situations. Otherwise, it will fire each and every time the sensor is triggered. This can be a good thing in large empty room spaces observing activity, travel patterns, plant and decay observation, or capturing critters where they should or shouldn't be. We recommend you closely monitor camera operating in this mode as the manufacturer supplied 16gb card could fill up sooner than anticipated. The best feature about the camera system is the ability to schedule the working recording hours. If left OFF then the system will capture 24/7. If the schedule is ON then the camera will only record during the hours you set.
